I want suggestion for Best Open-Source Software for Live Performances

Hey everyone,

I want some solid open-source software options for live performances—something that can handle audio, visuals or both. I have been experimenting with a few tools but I want to hear what you all are using.

I need something stable, easy to set up & flexible enough to integrate with other tools. I am interested in software for live audio processing, projection mapping or real-time video mixing. If it supports MIDI or OSC, even better!

Also I have tried OBS for streaming & Pure Data for some audio work but I feel such as I am just scratching the surface. Are there any hidden gems out there? Bonus points if it runs smoothly on both Windows and macOS.

Also, while searching for resources, I came across a Python course that covered some live audio manipulation techniques—has anyone explored something similar?

I want to hear your suggestion what works well for you & what should I avoid?
Also I have see this Looking For Some Best Practices for Virtual Performances on Digital Stage? and any tips on optimizing performance would be appreciated!

Thank you…

Great to see you here - welcome!
While digital-stage offers one solution, we are also encouraging to try the other solutions explained in the forum. You can install our software on mac and win, but the faster latency is achieved with a Raspberry pi with our image or the old GitHub - kdoren/jambox-pi-gen: Start jamming online easily with a Raspberry Pi, an audio interface, and this free Jambox image file. Just download/burn/boot/jam. Choose from multiple jamming apps: Jamulus, SonoBus, JackTrip, JamTaba, JammerNetz or HpsJam. User interface is any web browser on same local network. Pre-built image file is available under "Releases". - sorry its outdated ad needs some hacking…
